The world of India's regal past comes to life once again as Royal Fables presents its 14th edition in the heart of New Delhi. This two-day extravaganza, at Araya Bagh, was a captivating journey through time, offering a vivid glimpse into the tapestry of Princely India's culture, craftsmanship, and cuisine. From a VIP preview on Friday, September 22nd, to two full days of immersive experiences on September 23rd and 24th, 2023, Royal Fables 2023 was a unique celebration, made even more special with its association with The Titus Museum of Transportation.
The grand festivities kick off with a gala evening that encapsulates the essence of Princely India. Curated by Anshu Khanna, the founder of Royal Fables, and luxury consultant Charu Singh, this soirée promises to be a sensory delight. It unites the culinary wonders of the royal kitchens from Jhalamand, known as 'Kitchen of the Kings,' with the acclaimed offerings of Blue Sea Catering. This culinary extravaganza is a celebration of India's diverse flavors.To complement the regal atmosphere, the opening night features a musical performance by Anhad-Tanner X Kamakshi Khanna and a showcase of vintage cars from The Titus Museum. It's an evening that captures the grandeur and gravitas of royal culture.Royal Fables 2023 is a meticulously curated exposition that brings together the most exquisite creations from palace karkhanas. Among the notable participants is India's leading couturier, Anju Modi. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore exquisite block prints by Rani Jaykirti Singh of Baria, regional Gond art by Princess Nandini Singh Jhabua, and Indian festive ensembles by Kanwarani Kamini Singh of Seohara.Hand-woven textiles from the royal family of Mandawa, inspirational jewelry by Amrita Rana Nepal, home essentials, hand-painted sarees, and exquisitely embroidered sarees are among the many treasures awaiting discovery. Kunwar Raja Prithvi Singh Seohara debuts with a collection of men's kurtas, scarves, and hand-painted buttons, while Kunwar Yaduveer Singh Bera reintroduces his hand-tucked hunting jackets.Notable exhibits also include stunning farshis and angarkhas by Kunwarani Ritu Sinhji Wankaner, delicately crafted jewels by Namrata Singh, and wedding ensembles by Princess Diviya Jubbal from Himachal.
"Royal India is the source of all refinements, it is the oasis of culture. Royal Fables is a tiny attempt to keep this legacy alive and add to it the richness of India handmade. The government today talks of Vasudev Kutumbakam and vocal locals, Princely India has imbibed it in its life since time immemorial," shares Anshu Khanna, founder of Royal Fables.
Emerging as the one-stop-shop for luxurious Indian art and couture, Royal Fables also welcomes Gharana by Shilpi Gupta, a weave atelier known for their Varanasi looms, Parina Jewels from Jaipur, delicate embroideries by Babi Grewal, beautiful woven saris by Mirasa, tissue chanderi weaves by Aabharnam, couture ensembles by Shravanti Reddy from Hyderabad, regal costumes by Ranian-Neha Gupta, amongst others.From Kashmir come two pashmina stories: Sonia Wazir and Cilwana clothing. While the master Rafookar from Najibabad presents a heirloom-quality collection of shawls. In art, one can revel in collectibles crafted from old watch parts by Abhishek Basal, as well as contemporary miniatures by young master Jai Khanna.Royal Fables 2023 is more than just an exhibition; it's a window into the opulence and grandeur of India's royal heritage.
